I am back in Provo, and I am ready for a season of change.
I have a feeling that change is going to be the name of the game this year. On Monday I am starting my new job as a Marketing/Advertising intern. I don't think that I have fully grasped the concept that I will never have to sit/sleep through a lecture ever again...and no homework??? Are you serious?
In April I will graduate and move to...where ever I get a job. I'm not even going to guess where that will be. The lesson that I learned from 2007 was that, although it is good to have goals and be prepared, you really can't plan your life. You have to be flexible and willing to adjust.
2008 is going to rock. I can feel it. My amazing roommate, Meg, has an excellent list of goals for 2008 on her blog. My Dad has always been into setting goals (not resolutions) each year. In the past I have set resolutions, and promptly forgotten all about them. Not this year. This year I will follow my dad's lead and echo Meg's goals, with one slight adjustment: Run a 5K, not a marathon. Seriously Meg. And to that list I add one overarching goal. The one I really intend to work on and to stick with me forever:
Say what I need to say.
As I was driving home from Murray yesterday, I came around the point of the moffat and the sun was shinning, the snow was sparkling, the mountains were glowing, (have I painted the dramatic picture?) and John Mayer was singing his new song SAY. I had a moment of clarity. So many times I have regretted holding back and not saying what was on my mind, what I really NEEDED to say. And of course there have been countless times that I have said things that I probably should have kept to myself. I didn't NEED to say it.
So there you have it. May 2008 be as excellent for you as it is going to be for me.

Thanks for the tribute... you are cute. Lets be honest- I think the 5k is more likely... or maybe a 5 mile... but I don't think I could do a full marathon- for heaven's sake- who do I think I am!! And I have to say- you usually are the one that says what's needed...in fact, it's one of my favorite things about you.
great goal...i must say that it happens to be one of my top goals for the new year also!
