Pause

Crazy busy morning = slow boring afternoon.

A friend of mine who I work with, Anna, (it might have been easier to say "co-worker" there, but Anna and I aren't even on the same account...we choose to go to lunch together and I'm going to her baby shower which definitely demands the one-up of the "co-worker" title) recommended a book called The Magicians and Mrs. Quent by Galen Beckett. This is Beckett's first book. Here's the description on the cover:

"What if there was a fantastical cause underlying the social constraints and limited choices confronting a heroine in a novel by Jane Austen or Charlotte Brontë? Galen Beckett began writing The Magicians and Mrs. Quent to answer that question. He lives in Colorado and is currently at work on the next chapter in this fabulous tale of witches, magicians, and revolution, The House on Durrow Street."

Luckily Anna brought it to me today because I would have spent the rest of the afternoon twiddling my thumbs otherwise. I literally read the first page and thought, "Oh man. I'm going to love this book." Then I thought, "I bet Rachel and Teresa would love this book. I bet Shannon would too. So would Annie, oh and Elizabeth. And I'll have to tell Corissa about it....basically every female I know should read this book. Tyson and Kendall might enjoy it too..." (Sorry guys, just trying to avoid being called sexist)

So let's all read it together!

I might be jumping the gun on my recommendation, seeing as how I have only read one page...but I trust Anna's opinion. If you all hate it, blame her.

Lord of the Rings meets Sense and Sensibility--why didn't someone think of this before?!
I'm really curious about this premise. I'll have to look into it.

I just packed up all my books in anticipation for our move in October, so I'll gladly get another book! :) Thanks for thinking of me!
