Remember me? I used to be a blogger. Then I got a job and "threw myself into my career." I don't want to weigh this post down with talk of how fabulous my new job is so I'll just say: my new job is fabulous.
One particularly great thing is that I have to work every other Saturday. I know what you're thinking. "Is she being sarcastic or is she crazy?" You are wrong. On both counts. At least in regards to that statement. I am hourly now instead of salary which means that I actually get paid for the time that I work (wasn't the case at that other job) and when I work on a Saturday, I get to take any day off that I want and hoard my vacation time.
So what's a young single girl to do with all of these days off? Travel.
Leslie (roommate) and I went to Mesquite over Labor Day weekend. Stories and pictures coming soon.
Tomorrow Corissa (BFF) and I are heading to the mountains. We are going to stay at her cabin for a long weekend. Her husband is going to the U of U game in Oregon (not sure why anyone would want to do that when there is a perfectly good game happening in Provo this weekend) and *girls just want to have fun.* I can't even tell you how excited I am. I just finished packing. I'm taking two books and eight chick flicks...including the A&E and Keira Knightley versions of Pride and Prejudice (I'm leaving the pink box Mormon version at home this time). We have no shame. I always want to watch my favorite chick flicks this time of year (ie Runaway Bride and You've Got Mail). When we aren't watching movies, reading, or sleeping, we will be raising Cain on the four wheelers. I really hope the leaves are changing.
One month from today I will be off to Mesa for five days to attend the U2/Black Eyed Peas concert with Donelle and hang out with her cute family. The other day I thought I lost the tickets and nearly had a melt down.
Then on Oct. 30th Leslie and I are headed to the great nation of Texas to stay with my brother's family for four days. Perfect weekend = seeing Dallin dressed up as a Triceratops for All Hallows' Eve and going to a Dallas Cowboys game!!
It's a little much, I know. But I'm trying to make up for the worst summer ever. I think I'm doing a pretty good job.
* Side note: Julia (roommate) volunteered to do a musical number in a sacrament meeting at a rest home for people with Alzheimer's. She is a good person. I watched. We were in the front row. The woman next to me was clutching a stuffed animal which had a red wide brimmed sun hat and a purple feather boa. During the middle of the message, she gave it a little squeeze and it started playing:
I come home in the morning light
My mother says when you gonna live your life right
Oh mother dear we're not the fortunate ones
And girls they want to have fun
Oh girls just want to have fun
Those little stuffed animals have great speakers. I am immature and almost lost it. I held it together until I looked up and saw a member of the bishopric tapping his toes and snapping his fingers. The nurse calmly walked up and pried the creature out of the ladies arms.
I think we'll be volunteering more often.

Someone has the travel bug...can't wait to see and read about the adventures.
PS Is the Texas State Fair going on when you're there? I've heard it's amazing.
That cracks me up! I couldn't have held it together! Good for you!
Have fun on your girls weekend! Sounds like so much fun!

Witty, charming, and 100% Amanda.
Love ya, miss ya.
I'm so very glad that your job at the U is being good to you. That sounds like fun, all the travel. That just meens more pictures for us to enjoy!
You're a better person than I am. No way I would've held it together.
seriously, I am sure you demonstrated WAY WAY WAY more tact and maturity than I would have if that happened to me. I really wish that was captured and put on YouTube. maybe next time.
