Way back when (Oct. 2009) Donelle and I flew to Phoenix for the U2 concert. Shortly thereafter they announced a tour date in my own beloved SLC. I bought tickets, Bono broke his back, I sold my tickets. I convinced myself that one concert was sufficient. Then I drove past Rice Eccles Stadium and watched the set pieced together for a week, my resolve diminishing with each passing day. On Monday we received an email telling all U of U employees to flee campus early on Tuesday because the traffic would be terrific. Leaving early for such inconveniences doesn't fly in my office so we decided to follow the tried and true adage: if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. My coworkers and I snatched up four $30 tickets and made reservations at my favorite Greek restaurant, Aristo's, which is located down the street from the stadium. It was the best Tuesday night that I've had in a long time.
Get a load of this video that I stole from co-worker Camellia's blog. I love how it highlights the always changing set. The light show was worth $30 alone. Video credit goes to her husband, Brent Rowland, and the footage and images all came from his iPhone. Pretty impressive:
