The abominable snowman

I have a love hate relationship with winter. I get so excited when that first snowstorm covers the valley floor. And then I remember that I'll get to slide to work in it the next day. I spend the next four months counting down to the first day of spring.

Now that we've been enjoying blue skies and warmer weather, we decided to send winter out in style. Last weekend I went snowshoeing through the treacherous back country, forging a path through the forest with my lucky machete until we reached the majestic fountain of youth. Or maybe it was just a short hike to Donut Falls...the details are a little fuzzy now. It's been a week.

The most difficult part of the hike was the icy trek from the parking lot to the trail head. I don't do well with ice, but somehow managed to stay on my feet.

Here we (me, Blake, Holly, and Leslie) are just before putting on our gear to conquer the wild:

Such a beautiful day!

Taking a moment to contemplate the wonders of nature.

Leslie and Blake in the falls.

Next winter we are going to venture out more than once, and earlier in the season in hopes of more love and less hate for the white stuff.

You could always move to a two-season state and smoke ten-inch cigarettes with us.

Fun pics! Way to make the best of yucky weather. However I think Brad's idea still sounds more appealing to me.
