More Short Stories

I am contracting at McCann. I started on Monday and my last day is on July 24th. Which means that I will have to miss the Pioneer Day Parade AGAIN. Last year I swore that I would never again work on that holiday. So much for a floating holiday...so much for a permanent job with floating holidays for that matter. Yes it is weird to be back at my former place of employment for only two weeks, but it is good to know that they really did like me and it's great to be busy for two weeks.

The best part of going back to work is the commute into downtown. More crazies are out and about on the way to work than on the way home. This morning, while stopped at a light, I saw a man crossing the street. He appeared to be a normal 57ish year old man. But then he walked passed my car and I realized that he had a long ponytail in the back of his head. It was pretty high up. Not the usual low ponytail that is acceptable for men. It wasn't mullet long hair. It was a normal hair cut in the front, with a part, and then a ponytail that could be on a 10 year old girl in the back. Let me find pictures. I just want to be sure that you are understanding this...

What do you even call that hairstyle?

I went to The Robin's Nest twice this week and I have plans to go again next week. Just making up for lost time. The only bitter disappointment is that Uncle Slater didn't call me a pet name nor did he tell me that I made a good choice at either visit. Corissa and I met up for lunch today. I saw someone walking down main street in an outfit that was identical to mine, down to the yellow and white canvas bag. Sure enough it was my BFF. No surprise there. We are always on the same page. We don't even need "memos" to match. That is another lame phrase that I should stop using. "Hey you guys match! I guess I didn't get the memo."

In conclusion I have two things that I'm really, really excited about.
1) Julie & Julia August 7 - watch the trailer here: http://www.julieandjulia.com/

2) U2 is bring their tour to the U S of A this fall and I'm in the process of making plans to go to AZ for the Oct. 20th show. I know what you're thinking, "That is a foolish thing for an unemployed person to do." But you are wrong. Going to a U2 concert is on my bucket list and is therefore exempt from the consequences of an unemployed lifestyle.

I'm sad too that you can't go to the parade! I'm coming down with the kids for it! Where is a good place to sit? Oh, and sorry about last week! I soooo wanted to see your face!

Just for the record, I so loved that we matched!
